Austin has a vibrant and growing community of young families, and newborn session availability fills up quickly — especially in the popular spring and fall months. Booking early locks in your spot and gives us time to plan together so that when your baby arrives, the logistics are already handled.

We serve the full Austin metropolitan area, including neighborhoods within the city proper like Travis Heights, Clarksville, and Allandale, as well as surrounding communities such as Round Rock, Cedar Park, Pflugerville, Georgetown, Bee Cave, Dripping Springs, and Kyle. Travel details and any applicable fees for sessions outside the Austin city limits are discussed transparently during the booking process.
The ideal window is within the first five to fourteen days of life. At this stage, babies sleep deeply and curl naturally into the gentle poses that define classic newborn photography. After about three weeks, babies become more alert and interactive, which changes the style of the session. If you are past that early window, do not worry — we can still create beautiful, meaningful images; the approach simply shifts toward more awake and lifestyle-focused portraits.
Austin's abundant sunshine is one of the things that makes in-home sessions here so special, but direct harsh sunlight can be challenging for newborn work. When we scout your space, we identify the rooms and windows that provide the softest, most diffused light — often north- or east-facing windows in the morning — and we time the session accordingly. In most Austin homes we photograph in, there is always a beautiful light source to work with; we simply find it and let it do the heavy lifting.
For very young newborns in the first two weeks, we keep outdoor time minimal and weather-dependent to protect your baby's comfort and safety. However, for a lifestyle or family portrait segment — especially with older siblings — Austin offers stunning outdoor settings. Barton Creek Greenbelt, Auditorium Shores, the hike-and-bike trail around Lady Bird Lake, and the wildflower-lined back roads of the Hill Country near Wimberley or Marble Falls can all serve as incredible backdrops for the family portrait portion of your session during the right season and time of day.
