The ideal window is within the first five to fourteen days after your baby is born. During this time newborns tend to sleep more deeply and curl naturally into those classic poses most parents love. Because Cleveland winters can make scheduling unpredictable — between lake-effect snow days and everyone's schedules shifting around a new arrival — we strongly encourage families to get in touch and reserve a date during the third trimester. We build in flexibility around your actual birth date so you are never locked into a date that no longer works.

We serve families throughout the Cleveland metro, including neighborhoods like Ohio City, Tremont, Shaker Heights, Cleveland Heights, Lakewood, and the University Circle area, as well as suburbs extending to Westlake, Strongsville, Solon, Mentor, and beyond. In-home sessions are actually our preferred setting for newborn photography because the natural light and familiar environment tend to produce the most authentic, emotionally resonant images.
The most important things are warmth and light. We ask that you keep the space warmer than you might normally — newborns without their clothing on get cold quickly, and a warm room helps them stay settled and sleepy. Identify the rooms in your home with the best natural light, typically those with large windows on the north or east side of the house, and do a light tidy without stressing about perfection. Cleveland's overcast skies actually work in our favor for indoor shooting, giving us that soft, even light throughout much of the year. We will guide you through everything else during our pre-session consultation.
We understand the appeal — Cleveland has genuinely beautiful outdoor settings, from Edgewater Park along the lake to the wooded trails of the Cleveland Metroparks. However, for the safety and comfort of a newborn, outdoor shooting is typically reserved for slightly older babies or for parent-and-sibling portraits taken just outside your front door in mild weather. If you have your heart set on an outdoor element, we will discuss the timing and temperature carefully to make sure any outdoor moments are brief, safe, and genuinely beautiful rather than rushed.
Your finished, professionally edited gallery will be delivered within two to three weeks of your session date. We take our time with the editing process because these images deserve careful, intentional work — not a quick filter applied in bulk. Once your gallery is ready, you will receive a link to view, download, and select your favorites for printing. We are also happy to discuss print and album options if you want guidance on displaying your images in your Cleveland home.
