Candid Studios is a nationwide studio and we travel to destination weddings across the country, including Austin. We fly into Austin-Bergstrom International Airport and arrange our own ground transportation to your venue. All travel costs are provided upfront in your quote so there are no surprises, and we always arrive at least a day before your wedding to scout the venue and get oriented before the celebration begins.
We have scouted and photographed at venues throughout the Austin area, including properties in Dripping Springs, Lake Travis, the Barton Creek corridor, and both the historic downtown core and the newer East Austin event spaces. We are familiar with the lighting quirks and logistical layouts of Hill Country ranch venues, lakeside properties, and downtown landmarks like The Driskill. For any venue we have not previously visited, we conduct an in-person scout the day before your wedding to map the best locations and light angles.
We recommend booking as early as possible — ideally 12 to 18 months in advance for peak Austin wedding seasons. Spring weekends in March through May book up quickly because of the wildflower season and the appeal of outdoor Hill Country ceremonies. Fall weekends, particularly October and early November when the weather is at its most reliable, are also very competitive. Reaching out early gives us time to have a proper planning conversation, review your venue, and build a timeline that works across everyone's schedules.
Austin summers are genuinely hot, and we plan for that from the beginning. We schedule outdoor portrait sessions around the golden hour in the early evening when temperatures drop and the light becomes warm and directional rather than harsh and flat. For ceremonies and family formals that must take place midday, we identify shaded locations during our venue scout — covered porticos, tree canopies, interior courtyards — that keep everyone comfortable and produce beautiful, even light. We are experienced working in Texas heat and bring all the equipment and preparation needed to perform at a high level regardless of the temperature.
