The city's intense summer heat — with temperatures routinely pushing past 100 degrees from June through September — means most seniors prefer to shoot in the early morning or around golden hour in the evening, when the light is soft and the temperature is actually bearable. Spring and fall are the most popular seasons for sessions, and for good reason. Fall in Austin is particularly special for senior photos. That said, we encourage seniors to bring their own ideas — a meaningful neighborhood, a favorite trail on the Greenbelt, or even a local coffee shop you've spent years at can make for the most memorable photos.
Fall (October through mid-November) and spring (late February through April) are the most comfortable and visually rewarding times to shoot in Austin. The heat is manageable, the light is gorgeous, and spring sessions can include Texas bluebonnets and wildflowers for a uniquely local look. If you're shooting in summer, we plan sessions for early morning or the last hour before sunset to beat the heat.
We recommend booking four to six weeks ahead of your ideal date — and even earlier if you're targeting fall or spring, which fill up quickly.
