A Session Experience Built Around You
Every boudoir session at Candid Studios begins long before the camera comes out. We start with a personal pre-session consultation where we talk through your wardrobe ideas, the mood and style you have in mind, and any questions or nerves you want to get out on the table. Nothing about your session day should feel like a surprise, and our job is to make sure it does not. Sessions typically run between 60 and 90 minutes in a private, comfortable setting where you are never rushed. Professional hair and makeup services are available as an add-on, and we genuinely recommend them — not because you need to look different, but because that chair time is its own kind of ritual that helps you settle in and arrive on set feeling ready. Our team uses natural light combined with softbox lighting to create images that are flattering, intimate, and magazine-quality without ever looking overproduced. Within two weeks of your session, you will receive a password-protected online gallery featuring 30 to 50 professionally retouched images. Every package also includes a full print release for personal use, so your photos are yours to keep and share exactly as you choose.

Absolutely not. Boudoir is for every body, full stop. New York is a city that celebrates individuality, and our sessions are built on that same foundation. We use lighting, posing guidance, and framing techniques that are tailored to your specific features, not a one-size template. Clients of all shapes, sizes, and ages have walked away from their sessions with images they genuinely love.
This is something we talk through in detail during your pre-session consultation, so you never have to guess. Common choices include lingerie, a cozy oversized sweater, a tailored blazer, a slip dress, or simply elegant simplicity with minimal wardrobe. New York clients often bring two or three outfit options and we help you decide what works best in the moment. The goal is that you feel like yourself — just the most confident version of that.
Your privacy is a priority. Sessions are conducted in a private studio or hotel suite with only the Candid Studios photographer present, plus a hair and makeup artist if you have added that service. No guests, assistants, or outside observers are allowed during your shoot. If a hair and makeup artist is on site, they typically step out once your session begins so the space is just yours and your photographer's.
Because most boudoir sessions take place in private indoor settings — whether our studio or a Manhattan hotel suite — weather is rarely a logistical obstacle in New York. That said, the city's light and seasonal energy do influence the aesthetic of your shoot. Fall tends to bring a warm, golden window light that many clients love.
