Orlando Family Photography

Orlando is a city that moves fast — theme park weekends, long sunny afternoons at the lake, evenings where the sky over Lake Eola turns every shade of orange and pink before you even have time to grab your phone. Candid Studios captures your family in the middle of all of it, the real moments and the real connections, not a posed version of them. With more than 3,000 events captured since 2016, our photographers bring a relaxed, play-forward approach to every session so your Orlando family photos look exactly like your life actually feels.

Family Sessions Built for How Orlando Families Actually Live

Orlando families are used to being outside, and our sessions lean into that. We photograph in natural light during golden hour, that stretch of warm, soft afternoon glow that Orlando delivers almost every day of the year, and we plan sessions around your family's rhythm rather than forcing everyone into a studio setup that feels nothing like home. Sessions run 45 to 90 minutes, which gives us plenty of time to ease into it, let the kids burn off some energy, and still capture the portraits you will actually want to frame. Every session includes a mix of traditional group portraits, candid moments between family members, and individual shots of each person. We build in buffer time for snack breaks, outfit changes, and the inevitable toddler negotiations that come with the territory. You will receive 40 to 75 professionally retouched images delivered in a private online gallery with full digital downloads and a print release, so you can do whatever you want with them. Before your session, we send wardrobe coordination guidance tailored to your chosen location, whether that means earthy tones for a park setting or bolder colors that pop against the blue backdrop of a lake. The goal is always the same: images that feel real, not rehearsed.

Where to Shoot: Our Favorite Orlando Locations

Orlando offers an extraordinary range of backdrops, and choosing the right one makes a real difference in the final images. Lake Eola Park in the heart of downtown is one of the most beloved spots in the city, with the fountain, the walking path, and the surrounding skyline creating a backdrop that is unmistakably Orlando. Early evening sessions here during golden hour produce some of the most beautiful light we see anywhere in Florida. For families who want something more lush and natural, Mead Botanical Garden in Winter Park and Harry P. Leu Gardens offer layers of greenery, Spanish moss, and seasonal flowers that photograph beautifully. Kraft Azalea Garden on the shores of Lake Maitland is another standout, especially in late winter and early spring when the azaleas are in bloom and the cypress trees cast dramatic reflections on the water. If your family loves the beach, New Smyrna Beach and Canaveral National Seashore are within easy driving distance and give sessions a completely different, open feel. For families who want something urban and textured, the Milk District, Thornton Park, and the streets of College Park all offer character-rich environments with murals, brick walls, and tree-lined sidewalks that add depth without competing with the people in the frame. We are also happy to photograph at your home if that is where your family feels most like yourselves.

Planning Your Orlando Session: Seasons, Timing, and What to Expect

One of the genuine advantages of living in Orlando is that family photography sessions are possible year-round. That said, the weather does shape when and how we shoot. From roughly November through March, temperatures are mild, humidity drops, and outdoor sessions in the middle of the afternoon are genuinely comfortable. This is peak season for outdoor family portraits in Central Florida, and we recommend booking a few weeks in advance during these months. Summer sessions from June through September require a little more planning. The heat and afternoon thunderstorms are real factors, and we typically schedule sessions for the last 60 to 90 minutes before sunset to avoid both. The good news is that summer light in Orlando, filtered through afternoon clouds, can be absolutely stunning. We have photographed some of our most visually striking sessions in July and August simply because the sky cooperates in unexpected ways. Regardless of the season, we always communicate clearly about weather contingency plans so you are never left scrambling. Rescheduling for weather is always an option, and we build that flexibility into every booking. What we want at the end of the session is a gallery full of images that make you feel something, because you were actually in that moment with your family instead of performing for a camera.

Orlando Family Photography FAQ

  • We shoot at a location that makes sense for your family, and Orlando gives us a lot of excellent options to work with. Popular choices include Lake Eola Park in downtown Orlando, Kraft Azalea Garden in Winter Park, Harry P. Leu Gardens, and Mead Botanical Garden. For families who want a beach backdrop, New Smyrna Beach and Canaveral National Seashore are great options within driving distance. We also photograph at family homes and in neighborhoods like Thornton Park and College Park that have a lot of visual character. We are happy to help you choose a location based on the look you want and what works best logistically for your family.

  • November through March is generally the most comfortable time for outdoor sessions in Orlando, with lower humidity and mild temperatures that make being outside for 45 to 90 minutes genuinely pleasant. Spring sessions in late February and March also coincide with blooms at spots like Kraft Azalea Garden, which adds a beautiful seasonal element. Summer sessions are absolutely doable, but we schedule them close to sunset to avoid the heat and afternoon storms. Golden hour in Orlando is stunning in every season, so regardless of when you book, we will plan your session around that window for the best natural light.

  • Honestly, we prefer it that way. Our approach is play-based rather than pose-directed, which means we are following your kids rather than asking them to hold still and smile on command. We give children space to run, explore, and interact with each other and with you, and we capture what happens naturally within that. The images that come out of those moments tend to be far more genuine than anything we could have directed. We also build buffer time into every session specifically for snack breaks, outfit changes, and the unpredictable nature of toddlers, so there is no pressure to rush through anything.

  • Before your session, we send wardrobe guidance tailored to your chosen location and the time of year. As a general starting point, coordinating rather than perfectly matching tends to photograph best, think complementary colors and a shared level of formality rather than identical outfits. For outdoor sessions in Orlando's lush settings, earth tones, soft greens, and warm neutrals tend to work beautifully. For more urban backdrops or beach sessions, you have a bit more flexibility with bolder colors. We also recommend comfortable clothing your family can actually move in, especially if young children are involved, because comfort translates into confidence in photos.

  • Every family photography session includes professional coverage by an experienced photographer, expert post-processing and retouching on every delivered image, and a private online gallery where your photos are delivered with full digital download access and a print release. Depending on the session length, you will receive between 40 and 75 retouched images. We also include wardrobe coordination guidance before the session and ongoing support throughout the booking process. The print release means you can print your images wherever and in whatever size you choose, and your gallery will remain accessible online so you can share it with extended family.
