Orlando Engagement Photography
Orlando is one of the most unexpectedly beautiful cities in the country for engagement photography — from the moss-draped shores of Lake Eola to the cobblestone charm of Winter Park's Park Avenue, there's no shortage of backdrops that feel genuinely romantic. At Candid Studios, we've been helping couples across the country document this chapter of their lives since 2016, capturing more than 3,000 events along the way. Whether you're drawn to the golden waterfront light of the Dr. Phillips area, the lush greenery of Leu Gardens, or the vibrant street art of Ivanhoe Village, we'll help you find a setting that feels like you — and make the most of every minute you're in it.
What to Expect From Your Engagement Session
Your engagement session with Candid Studios is designed to be relaxed, unhurried, and genuinely enjoyable. Sessions run 60 to 90 minutes and are paced so that you never feel rushed or overly directed — the goal is real connection, not a checklist of poses. Before you even show up, we'll work through wardrobe guidance and help you think through the details that make a gallery feel cohesive and true to your style. We shoot during golden hour whenever the schedule allows, which in Orlando means taking advantage of those long, warm Florida evenings when the light wraps beautifully around you and your partner. Natural light and minimal equipment keep the whole experience feeling low-key, not like a production. Within two weeks of your session, you'll receive a gallery of 50 to 80 professionally edited images, complete with digital downloads sized for social media, your wedding website, and print — plus a full print release so you can use them however you'd like. Many of our couples also use the engagement session as a chance to explore different photography styles — whether that's a more candid documentary feel, a clean editorial look, or a natural blend of both. It's genuinely useful time together before the wedding day, so by the time that morning arrives, working with your photographer feels second nature.
Orlando Locations We Love for Engagement Photos
Orlando offers a remarkable range of engagement session settings, and part of our job is helping you choose one that matches your personality as a couple. Harry P. Leu Gardens in Audubon Park is one of our perennial favorites — 50 acres of botanical gardens with azaleas, rose gardens, and sweeping live oaks that create a lush, timeless atmosphere in almost any season. It photographs beautifully in the late afternoon light and offers a quieter, more intimate feel than busier tourist areas of the city. Lake Eola Park in the heart of downtown Orlando is another standout. The iconic fountain, the palm-lined walking path, and the downtown skyline in the background give sessions here an urban-romantic energy that works especially well for couples who love the city. The nearby Thornton Park neighborhood adds a charming residential texture — tree-lined streets, bungalows, and local coffee shops that can serve as natural, unposed backdrops. For something a little more eclectic, Ivanhoe Village and the stretch of Mills 50 near downtown offer bold street art, indie architecture, and vibrant color that suits couples looking for a more contemporary editorial feel. And if you're after something more natural, the Wekiva Springs area and the trails around Lake Baldwin Park in Baldwin Park bring in that quieter, greener side of Central Florida that most visitors never see. We'll help you narrow it down based on your vision, the time of year, and what time the light hits each spot just right.
Timing, Weather, and Seasonal Considerations in Orlando
Orlando's climate is genuinely one of the more nuanced things to plan around for an engagement session. The city earns its sunshine reputation, but Central Florida's afternoon thunderstorms — particularly from June through September — are real and worth building your schedule around. We always recommend late afternoon or early evening slots during the summer months, both to catch golden hour light and to avoid the peak storm window that tends to pass through between 2 and 5 p.m. Fall and winter are arguably the best times of year to shoot in Orlando. From October through February, temperatures settle into the 60s and low 70s, humidity drops noticeably, and the light takes on a softer, warmer quality that's flattering for portraits. There's no foliage change the way you'd see up north, but the greenery stays rich and the skies are often spectacular — particularly that clear, deep blue that shows up on Central Florida winter evenings. Spring sessions, especially March and April, are beautiful as well and tend to catch Leu Gardens at peak bloom. Whatever time of year you're planning, we'll talk through the best window for your specific location and style so you're set up for the conditions that flatter you most. Orlando's year-round warmth is a genuine advantage — there's rarely a month where a great outdoor session isn't possible with a little smart planning.

Orlando Engagement Photography FAQ
Engagement sessions with Candid Studios typically run 60 to 90 minutes. That's enough time to move through two or three locations or distinct spots within a single venue, try a couple of different looks if you're planning wardrobe changes, and settle into the experience without feeling like you're watching the clock. In Orlando, we'll often plan your session to end right at or just after sunset so we can take full advantage of the golden hour light — which, on a clear Florida evening, is genuinely hard to beat.
Orlando has more variety than most people expect. Harry P. Leu Gardens is one of our top picks for couples who love lush, botanical surroundings and a timeless feel. Lake Eola Park works beautifully for a downtown-romantic vibe with the city skyline as a backdrop. Thornton Park and Baldwin Park offer charming neighborhood textures, while Ivanhoe Village and the Mills 50 corridor are great for something more urban and editorial. If you want something more natural and off the beaten path, the green spaces around Wekiva Springs or Winter Park's lakefront areas are stunning. We'll help you pick based on your style, your timeline, and the best lighting window for each spot.
We provide wardrobe guidance as part of every engagement package, so you won't be left guessing. In general, we recommend outfits that complement each other without being too matchy-matchy — coordinated tones and textures tend to photograph better than identical colors. For Orlando's warmer months, lightweight fabrics will keep you comfortable and help you stay relaxed in front of the camera. If you're shooting at Leu Gardens or somewhere lush and green, earthy neutrals, soft florals, and warm tones tend to work beautifully. For a downtown session near Lake Eola or Thornton Park, you have more flexibility to go bolder or more polished. We'll give you specific suggestions once we've locked in your location and time of year.
Absolutely — pets are welcome, and honestly some of our favorite engagement photos have involved a dog stealing the moment in the best possible way. That said, it's worth knowing the rules of your chosen location in advance. Harry P. Leu Gardens, for example, does not permit dogs inside the gardens. Lake Eola Park and Baldwin Park are both dog-friendly and tend to be great options for couples who want to include their pet. We'll factor this into your location recommendation so there are no surprises on session day. It's also helpful to bring someone along who can wrangle your pet between shots so you and your partner can focus on each other.
It depends on the location and the time of day. Lake Eola Park, for example, is a busy public park and can get congested on weekend afternoons. That's one of the reasons we lean toward golden hour sessions — the crowd thins out noticeably in the early evening, and the light is far more flattering anyway. Leu Gardens tends to be quieter by nature and offers more secluded spots throughout the grounds. If privacy and exclusivity matter to you, we can also discuss private venue options or explore some of the less-trafficked green spaces around the greater Orlando area that offer beautiful scenery without the foot traffic.
