The Ben sits right in the middle of downtown West Palm Beach, a few blocks off Clematis Street, so a wedding here always has an urban, boutique-hotel feel instead of a typical ballroom feel. We like starting portraits on the rooftop while the light is still soft, then working our way down through the lobby and out toward the Intracoastal Waterway, where the Palm Beach Island skyline gives a genuinely different backdrop than most of the venues we shoot in this market.
Because it's a boutique property, the spaces are more intimate and detail-driven than a big resort ballroom, which means we lean harder on close, textured shots of the architecture and the room's own design details rather than wide crowd shots. Getting ready shots in the guest rooms tend to look clean and editorial without much extra lighting work on our end, and the walk to Clematis Street means there's always an easy option for a quick evening portrait session if the couple wants city-street energy in the mix.
