Rist Canyon Inn sits out past Fort Collins in Laporte, a 120 year old farmhouse property with old growth trees, golden pastures, and a creek running through it, so the setting does a lot of the work before we ever raise a camera. We shot Ali and Jake's wedding here and the pasture ceremony space gave us that wide-open Colorado foothills backdrop with the mountains rising behind the guests, which is the kind of shot that anchors a whole gallery.
Because the inn is farmhouse-style rather than a ballroom, the light stays soft and warm well into the afternoon, and we lean into that during golden hour portraits along the creek and tree line. The property is small enough that we're rarely fighting crowds or hard deadlines between spaces, so the day tends to move at a relaxed, unhurried pace that shows up in the final images.
